Giants land 2017 NFL drafts Renaissance man, Dalvin Tomlinson

Dalvin Tomlinson is coming off the best season of his college career with Alabama. Now hell have an opportunity to build on that success after being drafted by the New York Giants with the No. 55 pick in the second round.

Tomlinson looks like a prototypical SEC tackle, but off the field, hes anything but. This Renaissance man is an artist and a musician who was accepted to Harvard, and he has plans for a career in finance after football. On the field, he has the potential to become a consistent contributor for the Giants.

Hes stout against the run, he sheds blocks effectively, and he has the physical attributes and talent to work his way into New Yorks defensive line rotation right off the bat.

The Steelers need to: A) Find an outside linebacker to pair with 2015 first-round pick Bud Dupree; and B) Find a cornerback to pair with 2016 first-round pick Artie Burns. In this scenario they do both, snagging an ultra-athletic, but raw pass rusher in McKinley, and a very productive and successful, albeit slow, cornerback in Tabor.

Limited Womens Russell Bodine Jersey The Lions could use an edge-rushing boost after finishing near the bottom of the NFL in sacks with just 26. Harris provides that, while McMillan is a likely starter in a defense that is slated to start Paul Worrilow, Tahir Whitehead, and Antwione Williams.

Hageman was a bit of a reach in the second round, but his raw athleticism and speed coupled with his size made him an appealing prospect. Since he was drafted, Hageman had a couple of heated disagreements with former defensive line coach Bryan Cox at practice and during games, and he also faced charges in 2016 stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident. He had 18 tackles and two sacks over 12 games last season, and he was a healthy game day inactive a couple of times.

Why the photo the 49ers used to announce their Solomon Thomas pick is so good

Elite Womens Malcolm Mitchell Jersey At some point, Solomon Thomas and Mitchell Trubisky will probably line up against each other on an NFL field. It wont be the first time.

Trubisky and Thomas will forever be linked after the Bears traded with the 49ers for the second pick. Chicago took UNCs Mitchell Trubisky at No. 2, much to the chagrin of many of the their fans. San Francisco grabbed the relatively local college standout in Stanfords Thomas.

The two met in the final game of the their college careers when the Cardinal held on to beat the Heels in a 25-23 Sun Bowl victory, featuring a bonkers final drive engineered by Trubisky that fell just short.

Elite Womens Carl Crawford Jersey Our Stephen White broke Thomas game down, including the Bowl loss. In it, he found one of the flaws in his game while Trubisky showed off his athleticism.

He would have his hands on the quarterback and his hands were either too small or too weak to hang on. According to the Associated Press, 60 percent of offensive snaps in the NFL in 2016 were out of shotgun. Thats a sharp increase over the last decade, as fewer than 20 percent of snaps in 2006 were in shotgun.

If a team hopes to find success with a young quarterback from a spread offense as a starter early in his career, there has to be a comfort level afforded to the young passer. And the NFL is becoming increasingly accommodating.

Auston Matthews goes to Washington in highly anticipated Game 1

This is the big one, folks. No, it’s not the Stanley Cup Final just yet but we’ve got ourselves a David vs. Goliath match in the first round of the playoffs.

The Washington Capitals have all the pressure on them. They’re as deep as they’ve been in years and their path to the Stanley Cup has never been clearer. Except, they’ve got to get through the young and scrappy Toronto Maple Leafs lead by Calder favorite Auston Matthews.

Alex Ovechkin vs. Matthews. Nick Backstrom vs. Mitch Marner. Braden Holtby vs. Frederik Andersen. The star power will be out in Washington on Thursday.

The Capitals and Maple Leafs played just three times this season, but all were high-scoring affairs. Washington won the series 2-1, with the highlight being a 6-5 overtime victory in early January. Considering these teams boast pretty incredible offensive power, it’s no surprise at least one team scored four goals in each of the games.

Instead, those teams typically have the luxury to focus on the defensive side of the ball with the knowledge that a player like Brady or Manning (pre-2015 edition) didn’t need top 10 picks around him to make an offense hum.

Teams without a franchise quarterback over the last five years — like the Cleveland Browns or Houston Texans — are much more prone to be in the hunt for a passer and fill the rest of the offense with talent. Four of Cleveland’s eight first-round picks over the last five years were offensive skill players, as well as two of Houston’s four first-round picks over the last four years.

The moral of the story is: It’s sure nice to have a good quarterback.

Washington LB Trent Murphy suspended 4 games for violating NFLs PED policy

Washington outside linebacker Trent Murphy will serve a four-game suspension for violating the NFLs policy on performance enhancing drugs.

Murphy was drafted by Washington in the second round of the 2014 draft, and he is coming off of his best statistical season in 2016. Murphy finished the season with 47 tackles, nine sacks, and three forced fumbles.

Limited Womens Carl Landry Jersey The Patriots were spreading around house money and setting up moves for the future, even though their headlining move was unsuccessful. Brace never panned out for New England, while Hester was a useful fullback in San Diego — even if he didnt live up to his third-round billing. The move that pushes this in Belichicks favor is the trade that allowed him to pick up Slater, who remains the teams kickoff and punt defense ace.

Murphy started eight games for Washington in his rookie season, racking up 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. In 2015, he contributed 3.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

Limited Womens Bobby Portis Jersey He gained weight over the 2016 offseason in order to transition to defensive end. Murphy gained about 30 pounds to get up to 290 for his new role. He ended up switching back to outside linebacker after Junior Galettes torn Achilles left Washington without much depth at the position.

Murphy played in all 16 games for Washington last season, starting zero, but his impact on the field was felt.

Lydia Ko fires another caddie

Ko has become notorious for hiring and firing caddies. She even joked about it in her 2014 Rookie of the Year acceptance speech.

“This is the funny part, you see,” she quipped. “I want to thank Scott, Mark, Steve, Steve, Domingo, Fluff, Greg, Jason.”

Guess she’ll have to add Matthews — who retweeted several supportive messages after he received the pink slip — to that ever-expanding roster.

In addition to the T2 at the Lotte, Matthews helped Ko earn four top-10 finishes this season, though the 14-time tour winner has not prevailed in an event since July. And while she has owned the top spot in the Rolex Rankings for 78 straight weeks, her lead over second-ranked So Yeon Ryu and No. 3 Ariya Jutanugarn is rapidly shrinking.

Game Mens Washington Redskins Jersey It’s unclear who will be on Ko’s bag for next week’s Volunteers of America Texas Shootout.

Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson said he was confident he would be ready for full participation when Kansas City begins training camp this summer.

Johnson’s season ended in December when he tore his Achilles tendon in a game against the Oakland Raiders.

“If I’m not 100 percent, there will be some kind of setback,” Johnson said Monday as the Chiefs began their organized offseason workout program. “The main objective is to come into camp and get my work done and start training my eyes again.

Game Mens Xavien Howard Jersey “I’ll be well enough. It’ll probably be 7? months by the time camp comes around so I’ll be able to do everything.”

The speed with which Saric has acclimated to his new environment shocks Brown the most.

Between injuries and ineffectiveness, not much has gone right for the Steelers this season. They have long been known for running the football well and playing stout defense against the run. Neither could be further from the truth this season.
Game Kids Tyson Alualu Jersey
The Steelers are just 27th in the NFL in rushing yards per game and are allowing the fourth-most yards on the ground on defense. Pittsburgh’s defense has been up and down all season. It has played well at times, but has been decimated at others, including a 55-31 loss to New England two weeks ago.

Womens Drew Stubbs Jersey The offense has also had its share of issues. The Steelers are averaging just 19.9 points per game, 25th in the league. Not only are the Steelers not averaging many rushing yards per game, they are 28th in the NFL in yards per attempt. On top of it all, they are last in the AFC with a minus-11 turnover differential.

The 22-year-old Croatian forward is averaging 12.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, lodging himself firmly into the Rookie of the Year race teammate Joel Embiid left open.

The Jaguars dipped their toes into the free agency waters again in 2017

As a responsible media organization, we should probably caution you not to put too much faith in free agency. You don’t have to be a complete Ted Thompson-style skeptic about it, but landing a whole new batch of veteran players is never a panacea for covering up bad management or terrible coaching.

Last year, the Jaguars were lauded for their free agent moves. Unfortunately, a roster loaded with talent wasn’t enough to overcome Gus Bradley’s coaching. The Giants, on the other hand, spent a bundle in free agency to give their defense an injection of talent, and it worked like a charm.

All we’re saying here is not to let the excitement of being an armchair general manager cloud your grip on reality.

The Jaguars dipped their toes into the free agency waters again in 2017, dishing out big money to Calais Campbell, A.J. Bouye and Barry Church. Better luck this time around, Jacksonville.

Hahahahah remember when Tony Romo dated Jessica Simpson, and when Jessica Simpson briefly tried to be a country singer? Hahahaha this song is so bad. Ahhhh I can’t stop laughing.

We’re totally re-working the show top to bottom. It’s now called “Hawaii Rom-o” and Tony is just a regular beat cop in Honolulu. What kind of people will he meet? What kind of crimes will he solve? All we know for sure is that some pesky millennials are causing a ruckus and things will never be the same again. — James Dator

Rookie Dak Prescott instantly saw Romo’s injury as his hello.

Prescott was paying attention. He was ready. He led Dallas to the NFC Championship game. He set a bushel of rookie quarterback records. He became an instant league fixture.

And here we are all of these days and weeks later with Romo finally in total, exacting acknowledgment of what everyone already saw. Dak is the future. Tony is the past. It is over.

Sure, Romo could have remained as a backup. Dallas owner Jerry Jones would have loved that.
Jimmy Graham Mens Jersey
Once Romo was injured last season, Jones was consistent in saying that Prescott gave the Cowboys a chance to win regular season games but Romo gave them the best chance to win a championship. And since Dallas missed their ultimate mark, maybe Jones was right. It crushes Romo that he will never know the answer to that. In some ways, that saddens Jones, too. Jones has a fondness for Romo that is deep.

This year’s Bulldogs accomplished much, but their biggest achievement may be the new standard they set for future teams.

“How many teams would take 37-2, league champs, being national runner-up?” asked California transfer Jordan Mathews after the loss. “We broke that glass ceiling everybody said we couldn’t get past. I have no doubt there will be future Zags who get over this final hump.”

The formula is there for future Gonzaga teams, if everything else goes right. Considering the glaring needs on the offensive line, though, Los Angeles could target a guard or center with the 37th pick. Indiana’s Dan Feeney should be a Day 1 starter at guard, though some teams are reportedly working him out at center, which could work for the Rams. He also played tackle in college, so he’s versatile. Ohio State’s Pat Elflein, a center, is another possibility for Los Angeles there.

The team has met with a number of offensive linemen in preparation for the draft, including Western Kentucky’s Forrest Lamp, Western Michigan’s Moton, and Bucknell tackle Julie’n Davenport, who may be available for the Rams on Day 3 of the draft.

NFL news roundup: Christian Ponder named Vikings starter, D.J. Hayden to IR

The Minnesota Vikings will roll with Christian Ponder for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, head coach Leslie Frazier announced Wednesday. The decision comes just a few days after Ponder was pulled for throwing two interceptions against the Seattle Seahawks. He was replaced by Matt Cassel, who struggled as much or more during the loss.

Kids Corey Lemonier Jersey The Vikings’ quarterback situation is as muddy as any in the league. The team also has Josh Freeman, who is being paid $2.83 million this season to effectively warm the bench. None of the team’s three options have yet to prove himself capable of consistent production, though Ponder is arguably the best. He played well in Week 10 against the Washington Redskins, shaking off an early pick to throw two touchdown passes before leaving with a dislocated shoulder.

The Eagles’ victory was highlighted by another strong outing from young quarterback Nick Foles. Foles threw for 298 yards on 16 of 27 passing (65 percent) and sported a 104.3 passer rating. He also contributed on the ground with 47 yards and 2 TD (numbers which outperformed RGIII!). The second-year player is making a case for himself as the team’s next franchise quarterback. For now, Foles is just content with today’s victory.

Sean Patterson of Hogs Haven believes that the offensive line needs to give Robert Griffin III more time to throw:

Inability to pass: It is no secret the pocket is non-existent for Robert Griffin III. But where is the play action? Where are the boo legs? Why does Kyle keep calling obvious passing plays on 3rd down and ask Robert to stand in a pocket that is not there? These problems seemed fixed by the fourth quarter (or the Eagles defense was playing soft). Offensive inconsistencies continue to trouble the Redskins.

The Eagles will be on bye in Week 12, while the Redskins will host the 49ers on Monday Night Football.
